We don’t know you too well, so unfortunately we can’t just go around dropping L-bombs right now. But I bet if we spent some time together, really got to know each other, it could blossom into a wonderful friendship. From there, depending on how things go, maybe we do find love down that road or we find out we were just better off as friends.
Dan, you WERE joking about the ex-wife thing on Twitter recently…. right?
Dan answers: oh my… That was a John Mayer Twitter joke, I was just repeating. He tweeted that whenever you get the urge to say “That’s what she said!” you should say “sounds like my ex-wife!” in it’s place. Lauren and I are happier than ever, and let the record state that she hates when I say this.
Do you guys feel that you picked music, or did music pick you?
Just like anything in life, it’s easy to get side tracked or distracted. I’d say doing what we do is definitely a
choice. We love doing it and it’s why we work so hard at it. The shows, the fans, the music…we pick this life and we’ll continue to!
It’s about 3:30am and we’re in the middle of South Dakota watching “The Hangover”. So, gonna have to go with Kanye West “Cant tell me nothin”. It’s the song playing as they drive into Vegas. Got us going, a bit of a wake up.
It seems that so many bands let the fame get the best of them and fall out of tough with their fans. How do you guys as a band manage to stay so down to earth and not only true to yourselves, but to your fans as well?
I think a big part of it is just remembering where we came from. We know our roots and have worked hard to get where we are today. At the same time, we still know there’s a lot of work ahead of us, but we’re excited for it. This is what we love doing, and if we continue to have amazing fans behind us, this will be quite the journey!
Actually, been playing Plants vs Zombies (iPhone version) trying to figure out that exact thing. We don’t think they can be quelled by our voices…so, it’s gonna have to be a lawn defense. Maybe like in “I Am Legend” with the UV lights up everywhere.
Usually rock the armrest to the right. Think it comes from driving and having a girl on your right. So if she is there with you, you’ve usually got your arm over that way or leaning a little more towards each other.
What inspires you the most when you’re writing songs?
Dan answers: Honestly, it’s different everytime… could be a feelIng of mortality, just a pretty chord progression, a lesson learned, or almost any everyday event could wind up inspiration for a song, and really that’s the beauty of it - I’ll ALWAYS write songs as long as the inspiration keeps hitting, and I count it an honor and a blessing to have you as a listener.
This is for Dan..So what happened to the guys from Showoff? Or the original members of The Fold like Chris Behm?
Dan answers: They are all doing well! I see Kyle Lewis & Chris Behm the most, they are still close friends. I see Chris & Dave (Envy) from Showoff a little less, but still love those dudes- they live in different states so it gets hard to hang. Graham & Magoo I’m afraid I’ve lost touch with over the years but I miss them very much. Graham is getting married this year!
Any chance of you guys releasing some of the tabs for your songs on Ultimate Guitar?
We get this question lots, I don’t believe there are any official tabs out there, and we aren’t “schooled” enough to write them ourselves. Our songs are fairly simple once you get the tuning right. It’s Drop D, and then we tune a half step down.
